I warned that this virus was going to get out of control. Unfortunately, it has.
Like many fathers' my first and foremost concern is for my family consisting of a lovely wife Azizah and my two young boys.
Secondly is the safety of my staff, friends, clients, and associates.
Everyone has taken this whole disease too lightly.
As I updated people I met recently on the daily rising numbers of sick and deceased they looked at me like I was a crazy doomsayer. Most didn't listen. Now maybe they will!
To be super safe we recommend the following.
3. In theatres, we recommend that you wear a surgical mask although be aware that this disease can spread through your eyes as well. Surgical masks are available for purchase at reception.
I've been watching the information and statistics closely night and day almost every 30 minutes even waking up at 3 AM in the morning for an hour to update myself.

I follow most major news outlets, Facebook posts and most important Tweets about the coronavirus which of course are immediate and often more real than edited news from major news outlets.
A few of the Tweets have been false and misleading. Many of them have been making jokes about this very serious disease.
This is not a laughing matter. Which is why the World Health Organization issued its highest warning in decades today.
This is not a laughing matter. Which is why the World Health Organization issued its highest warning in decades today.
Here is what we now know are the facts.
The Bad News:

- The disease has been spreading rapidly since January 16th. when the first 45 known cases were reported.
- In the last 15 days, it has grown to 9,822 confirmed cases worldwide, including 213 fatalities.
- The average rate of increase per day according to my personal statistics that I keep, which are not guaranteed, is that new cases have been produced at an average of 42% per day.

- The death toll went up from 170 to 213 yesterday which means 43 more patients died of the disease in one day.
- We know that the disease has already spread to 102 countries.
The top 10 countries infected as of today
INTERNATIONAL Cases Deaths Thailand 14 0 Japan 14* 0 Singapore 13 0 Malaysia 8 0 Australia 9 0 France 6 0 United States 6 0 Germany 5 0 South Korea 7 0 UAE 4 0
The Good News:
- Indonesia & Bali according to the authorities are free from this deadly virus as of this date on January 31st.
- We know that it can take up to 14 days for symptoms to show so there is still a chance that we may have some cases in the future.
- We know that a majority of the deceased patients were elderly and many had pre-existing conditions such as asthma and lung disease etc. So young people and people who are in good health should be pretty safe with this virus.
- The best news is that the amount of patients being affected each day is dropping percentage-wise from a high of 95% per day on January 18th. to only 26% in the last 24 hours.
- Based on this trend it appears that they may be getting it under control. Each day, although there will be more cases for some time perhaps up to two weeks to a month from now the amount of percentage of new cases, is dropping consistently.
"Based on this trend it appears that they may have it under control"
If you're already in Bali what should you do?

Memo to Villa Owner and Guests - - Subject: Corona Virus Protection
Dear Bali Luxury Villa guests. Our president director Mr. Bellefontaine is on top of information almost hourly regarding the Coronavirus.
We are happy to report that unlike most of Asia, Australia, Europe and even Canada and Americas there have been no reported cases in Bali as of this morning.
There is thermal scanning at the airport, but this is not 100% safe as they have just revealed that coronavirus may be in incubated in the patient up to 14 days before signs such as fever appear.
To be super safe we recommend the following.
1. Do not enjoy a massage as a masseuse may have given a massage to an infected person in the last week or so.
2. Try to avoid close contact in public places including avoiding any buffet lines where previous restaurant guests or staff may have unintentionally contaminated the buffet food.
3. In theatres, we recommend that you wear a surgical mask although be aware that this disease can spread through your eyes as well. Surgical masks are available for purchase at reception.
4. The masks you should purchase if you feel that you need them, are the inexpensive surgical masks which have blue color on the outside and a malleable bendable piece of metal around the nose.
6. Try to cook at home as much as possible to avoid the chance of receiving the virus from a 3rd. party. Soak all fruits and vegetables in vinegar and water to kill all bacteria.
7. Bali Luxury Villas, in general, does not have any mainland Chinese guests currently so there's very little chance of catching the virus within our villa complexes.
8. If the Virus becomes completely out of control the best thing to do would be to buy some frozen food and vegetables and stay in your villa enjoying your swimming pool, Wi-Fi and television.
9. If you do come down with any symptoms at all similar to flu contact our reception immediately and they will arrange for you to go to a local clinic be diagnosed whether you have the Coronavirus.
10. If you have plans to go to China, Hong Kong, or even Japan soon we highly recommend you change your plans and stay longer with us until the virus is under control. Contact our reception and we will provide you a substantial discount for continuing your stay with us, subject to availability.
If you have any questions please feel free to direct them to the reception.
Pray that the authorities achieve control of this virus and eventually that it is under control and eliminated as was the similar Sar’s virus in 2012.
As always better to be safe than sorry.
Wishing you all a pleasant, comfortable, fearless, safe stay.

World Health Organization declares the coronavirus outbreak to be a global health emergency:

- 2020-01-31-The World Health Organization’s Emergency Committee has declared the outbreak of coronavirus in China a “public health emergency of international concern.” Governments and companies around the globe are already scrambling to contain the illness, which has shown up in a smattering of cases beyond China. But the move by the global health watchdog could accelerate the response in various ways.
• The declaration sends the message that a health emergency is serious.
• It encourages nations to cooperate as much as possible by coordinating personnel, funds and other resources, with the WHO at the helm.
• By underlining the dangers, the designation can be used to help persuade citizens of infected countries to follow health and hygiene recommendations.
Coronavirus outbreak is declared a global emergency as SIXTH case is confirmed in the US after Chicago man is infected by his wife in first person-to-person spread in North America.

Four other cases have been confirmed in Arizona, California and Washington - all of whom traveled to China
Currently, there are 168 possible cases are under investigation in the US, 21 of which are in Illinois
Worldwide, more than 8,300 people have been infected and 210 people - all in China - have died

The World Health Organization (WHO) announced on Thursday that it was declaring the deadly coronavirus outbreak spreading from China to be a global health emergency.
The warning, officially known as a 'public health emergency of international concern' and defined as an 'extraordinary event', is the highest alert the UN health agency can issue.
Just one week ago, the organization decided to hold off the declaration as there was no evidence of human-to-human evidence outside of China.
However, in the week since, the number of cases surged ten-fold.
Additionally, Thursday was the first confirmed case of person-to-person case transmission of coronavirus in the US after a man in was infected from his wife, who had previously traveled to China.
'The main reason for this declaration is not for what is happening in China but because of what is happening in other countries,' Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, the WHO Director-General, said at a press conference.
'Our greatest concern is for the potential for the virus to spread to countries with weaker health systems, which are ill-prepared to deal with it.'
He added that the declaration didn't mean a 'vote of no confidence in China' and, in fact, congratulated the Chinese government for taking 'extraordinary measures' to contain the outbreak.
This marks the fifth time the WHO has made such a declaration since the rule to do was implemented in 2005: for the influenza pandemic of 2009, a resurgence of polio 2014, the Ebola crisis in 2014, the outbreak of Zika virus outbreak in 2016 and the Ebola outbreak in the Democratic Republic of Congo in 2019.
Such a declaration does not give the WHO more money, but officials can make a recommendation on travel or trade was well as mobilize public and political action.

More than 8,200 cases have been confirmed in 22 countries and territories around the world
It comes on the heels of news of the sixth confirmed case in the US of a man whose wife had already been infected.
The man's wife, who is in her 60s, became the second American after she returned from a trip to Wuhan, the epicenter of the outbreak.
'Given what we've seen in China and other countries with the novel coronavirus, CDC experts have expected some person-to-person spread in the US,' Dr Robert Redfield, director of the CDC told reporters in a media call on Thursday.
'We understand that this may be concerning, but based on what we know now, we still believe the immediate risk to the American public is low.'
The couple, who have not been identified, are now both being isolated at St Alexius Hospital in Hoffman Estates, a suburb of Chicago.
According to officials from the Illinois Department of Health, the wife is 'doing well' and the husband is 'stable'.

She arrived at O'Hare International Airport on January 13 but did not begin experiencing symptoms until several days later.
CDC officials say they do not believe she infected her husband until she was symptomatic.
The husband had some pre-existing medical conditions, similar to many infected patients, but health officials would not elaborate on what those conditions were.
Health officials say that the man was not attending mass gatherings and they are monitoring close contacts.
'This person-to-person spread was between two very close contacts, a wife and husband,' said Ngozi Ezike, the director of the Illinois Department of Public Health in the media call on Thursday.
'It is not spreading in the wider community.'

Previously, all confirmed US cases had been in patients who travel to Wuhan, where an outbreak has been ongoing since December 2019.
However, there have been cases of human-to-human transmission reported outside of China, including in Germany, Japan, Taiwan and Vietnam.
The four other cases have been confirmed in Maricopa County, Arizona; Orange County and Los Angeles County California; and Snohomish County, Washington.
Currently, 168 cases are under investigation in at least 26 states - 21 of those alone in Illinois.
The CDC say it is likely that more cases of the virus, known as 2019-nCoV, will be reported in the next several days and weeks.
Signs and symptoms of the illness include fever, cough, and shortness of breath, with 20 percent of cases becoming severe.
Health officials say the best steps Americans can take to stay safe is to practice basic hygiene including washing hands with warm water and soap and coughing or sneezing into an elbow.
Meanwhile, in China, the coronavirus death toll has risen to 170 as of Thursday afternoon and several countries - including the US and UK - have advised against non-essential travel to the nation.
More than 8,300 people have been sickened by the deadly strain in at least 22 countries and territories amid an international effort to stop the spread.
US EVACUATES 195 AMERICANS FROM WUHAN AND PLANS SECOND RESCUE FLIGHT
On Wednesday, an evacuation flight with 195 Americans on board landed at March Air Reserve Base in Riverside, California.
They were greeted by officials hazmat suits before being filed onto awaiting buses and taken to another building.
The plane, which also carried six members, departed Wuhan before dawn on Wedneday before stopping to refuel in Anchorage, Alaska.
Originally scheduled to fly to Ontario International Airport in Ontario, California, the flight was diverted to the airbase 25 miles away without explanation late on Tuesday night.
Currently, the passengers are under a voluntary 72-hour quarantine as officials check for signs and symptoms.
Prior to this, the passengers underwent four screenings: two before departure in Wuhan and another two during a refueling stop in Anchorage, Alaska.
There are more than 1,000 Americans still in Wuhan, bu the US State Department announced on Thursday it was planning a second evacuation flight.

WUHAN EVACUEE TRIES TO WALK OFF BASE AND IS PLACED UNDER MANDATORY QUARANTINE
One of the passengers on the US evacuation flight from Wuhan allegedly tried to walk off the March Air Reserve Base (MARB) less than halfway through the 72-hour quarantine.
The unidentified passenger was one of 195 who was asked and voluntarily agreed to remain on base for three days so they could be screened and monitored for any symptoms of coronavirus.
However, on Wednesday night, the traveler tried to leave the base, the details of which are unclear, forcing Dr Cameron Kaiser of the Riverside County Public Health Department to issue a quarantine order.
This means the passenger is required to stay on base for the entire 14-day incubation period or until authorities say he or she is free to leave.
'This action was taken as a result of the unknown risk to the public should someone leave MARB early without undergoing a full health evaluation,' Riverside County public health officials said in a written statement.
