The answer is the quality of healthcare is not as high as countries such as Australia and my home country of Canada yet.
I say yet because there have been leaps and bounds in improvements in healthcare and the quality of hospitals in Bali in the 23 years I've lived here.

When I visited Countries such as New Zealand, Australia and Canada recently I found that they have free healthcare, but it may take you three months to get an operation.
Everyone complains. I'm the type that when I have a healthcare issue I want to handle it immediately.
You will be healthier if you live in Bali.
Let's start with the basics. First, you will be a lot healthier in Bali that you will be in most places in the world right now.
Especially if you're in Australia which has seen the worst brushfires in modern history.

Bali’s air quality is among the best in the world: In the meantime, you will find that Bali’s air quality is among the best in the world especially on the East Coast in residential areas on or close to the beachs where I work and live.
The proof is in the pudding: Here are some pictures I took this morning 2020 January 18 from our beachfront resort at Bali Paradise Beach Estates just a few minutes north of the major tourist areas of Sanur & Ubud.

Why is the air quality so good here?
Simple, because the trade winds generally blow the breezes off the ocean and these breezes are generated thousands of kilometers away in places like Antarctica or the remote eastern islands of Papua New Guinea where there is virtually no industrial pollution.

There have been many articles written on the fact that if you live close to the ocean you will live healthier and therefore live longer.
The Cost of pharmaceuticals a fraction of Western prices.
Whenever we travel as we just recently did to Switzerland I make sure that we stock up on all the basic medications such as Ibuprofen, Telfast + for allergies and even the basics such as cough drops and Fishermen's because they are generally 50 to 70% less expensive in Bali.
On many trips around the world recently I found that I need a prescription for simple things such as even ibuprofen.
I don't have the time or the patience to be running around getting a Dr. certificate and pay a couple hundred dollars to buy a simple Prescription that is available over the counter in Bali.
In fact, most drugs such as medications for diabetes etc. are available over the counter.
If you are too lazy to go purchase them yourself you may simply have your housekeeper, who only cost $200 a month go pick them up on her motorcycle for you. No prescription needed.
Now let’s talk about other health issues that baby boomers who are planning to retire may have.
One common health problem these days, especially if you're from Australia is skin damage from the sun.
Australia has some of the strongest U.V. rays in the world.
I know a lot about this because unfortunately, I was a skier, a sun worshiper living in Hawaii for 18 years and then a sailor for five years here in Bali.
I only learned about sunscreen in the last 30 years.
The Most dangerous sun I've ever seen so far in the world was while sailing 10 days across the northern part of Australia. My eyes got sunburned. Some of the worst pain I have ever endured, and that's with sunglasses, a large big brim sailors’ hat and sunscreen.
Many retirees get spots on their faces and arms which must be frozen off or cut off.
This can be very time-consuming and again take up to 3 to 6 months to obtain an appointment with a Dr. in places such as Canada and Australia where they have free healthcare.
Here we simply go to a doctor and spend approximately $50-$70 and have it cut or frozen off.
Another health issue that is prominent amongst retirees these days is Cataracts which slowly but surely diminishes your eyesight to the point where you must do something about it. I acted when I finally couldn't see the ball being served on the other side of the tennis court.
It's estimated upwards of 70% of all those baby boomers in their 60s and 70s will eventually need to have cataract surgery.
In the West again it may take a long time to get an appointment for surgery. If you want it done fast you may have to pay out $10,000 to $15,000 for the best lenses.
For items such as this you can have it done in Bali for as little as $1400.
Bali’s Improving Health Care:
Healthcare is improving rapidly in Bali as higher trained doctors are coming out of the recent medical schools.
Many hospitals are starting to specialize in Expatriate healthcare specializing in Illnesses such as skin cancer, and cataract surgery.
If you don't want to take a chance on getting treatment in Bali you can simply hop on a plane and in 2 1/2 hours you can be in Australia, Singapore or my favourite recently Malaysia.
International Medical insurance is available for retirees starting as low as $2,500 per year including Medi Vac which means they can evacuate to you to Australia, Sydney Singapore or KL for serious Illnesses or surgeries.
G. Ps Cost 70% Less:
One of the beautiful things about Bali is that you can go to a local doctor here and spend as little as $50 for a checkup.
Pet scans that cost you $1,500 to $2,000 Dollars in Singapore or Australia will cost you as little as $600.
Healthier Food:
I'll repeat myself you will be healthier in Bali because you will begin to eat the large variety of ever-present fresh fruits and vegetables with little pesticides or organic vegetables and fruits available at a fraction of the Western prices.
Less Stress, Fewer Heart Attacks.
The largest cause of heart attacks for retirees is stress from a high cost of living and a high cost of housing.
That stress will be diminished substantially as soon as you move to Bali where you can purchase a two-bedroom, two-bathroom villa with private swimming pool for as little as $220,000 with 80 years of leases.
You can forget about the stress of daily housekeeping, moving furniture and even going shopping as a housekeeper can be had for as little as $200 per month who will do everything with you for you.
Many of the things I've discussed above are why I believe Bali is destined to be on of the largest retirement destinations in the world for the 25% of the world's population that are retiring now who are part of the baby-boom generation, born between 1944 to 1965.
